The Venue: the New Luxor Theatre

This year’s Graduation Ceremony will take place in the New Luxor Theatre in Rotterdam. The New Luxor is called the ‘most beautiful theatre’ in the Netherlands. Anyone who enters the building can expect many surprises. The huge entrance hall, the imposing, broad, noble lazy staircase that leads from ground level to the Rhine Foyer, diagonal columns, the beautiful vistas and the two biggest foyers that are connected with each other.

Information for the Graduands

Registration
Your home CEMS Coordinator must validate your graduation. You must confirm with him/her before proceeding to the online registration.

Briefing session Graduation Ceremony
Before the start of the Graduation Ceremony a rehearsal will take place in the New Luxor Theatre. This rehearsal is compulsory and starts at 13.00h. It is imperative that you attend. With over 500 graduands a smooth process is essential, only to be achieved by rehearsing.

Late Arrivals
The organisation of the Graduation Ceremony is complex. Late arrivals may not be allowed to join the graduation class, so make sure you are on time, so as not to be disappointed.

Number of guests
During the Graduation Ceremony you will receive your CEMS diploma. Of course you want to share this special moment with family and/or friends. As graduand you can bring two guests. Additional guests may join the Graduation Events IF places are still available upon registration closure (November 15th, noon CET). If you want to bring more guests please send an e-mail to cems2010@rsm.nl with the names of additional guests, and to which events you would like them to attend. We will then get back to you after the registration closure and let you know whether your request is granted.

Caps & Gowns
Graduands 2010 will be provided with an academic gown & cap, courtesy of RSM. The Cap & Gown, adorned with the CEMS logo, constitutes a wonderful souvenir. You are provided with the opportunity to purchase your Cap & Gown after the event at the substantially reduced rate of €15,- (caps and gowns are not sold separately). You may indicate your wish to purchase the Cap & Gown in the registration database. Alternatively you may purchase the Cap & Gown after the graduation ceremony. No more worries about future fancy dress parties…

Global Values Statement
With the goal of raising the awareness of the values at the heart of the CEMS community the CEMS Global Values Statement has been introduced by our students and will be integrated into this year’s CEMS graduation ceremony.

The aim is to give students the opportunity to formally commit to uphold these values on the day of their graduation. This act strengthens these values that we see as guiding principles for everyday decision making both as a student and as a professional.

Text of The Global Values Statement:

“As a lifelong member of the CEMS community, I hereby commit to uphold and be guided by the following principles:

  • The pursuit of excellence with the highest ethical standards, integrity, and humility.
  • Professional  responsibility and accountability in relation to society and the environment
  • Drawing upon the value  of cultural diversity with respect and empathy
My decisions and actions, both now and in the future, will reflect this  Commitment to Global Citizenship that I make here today.”

The statement will be read out once during the Graduation Ceremony. After receiving their diploma on stage, each graduand will have the option to sign the Global Values Statement book. Since signing of the statement is not compulsory, students also have a choice of crossing out their name or leaving a blank.

Information for Guests
